A New Paradigm for Cruising

Bar BQ – First Test

The Bar BQ/sink cabinet which is integrated with the engine room air intake structure has been the source of substantial dialog on the Dashew Offshore team. Todd and Linda were heavily in favor and wanted a large Bar BQ. Steve was inclined to have the smallest unit possible.

Today was the occasion of the first lunch cooked aboard Avatar and the Bar BQ was pressed into service. Todd is testing the ergonomics of the design and indicating that the larger Bar BW choice was correct. The consensus of the first four owners is in accord with Todd’s observation. Steve can attest that the Bar BQ’d chicken was delicious (Todd was off to the airport).

This is a known issue with the big dink with which the Owners have chosen to live. This area is in the lee of the house, and in a strong breeze, if the Bar BQ is used, the dink should be in the water.

“The 83ft-long (25m) wave-piercer...could easily be mistaken for the spawn of the Royal Navy with its unpainted battleship grey, all-aluminum body. But that day, in those conditions, it was the only boat that I would have wanted to climb aboard to face the English Channel.” --Motor Boat & Yachting
