A New Paradigm for Cruising

Navigational Software

Steve, I am curious about your navigational software. I seem to recall in previous posts on your blog that you mentioned Coastal Explorer and I wondered if that was your primary software or a backup program you were using. If purchasing navigational software today for the type of cruising you have been doing what product would you select? I don’t recall that you have mentioned that lately. Thanks, George Laycock
Hi George: We have used any different programs, often checking out new or revised versions. This season we are primarily using Coastal Explorer by Rose Point. Simple, clean, and elegant – you wo uld not go w rong with it.

“The 83ft-long (25m) wave-piercer...could easily be mistaken for the spawn of the Royal Navy with its unpainted battleship grey, all-aluminum body. But that day, in those conditions, it was the only boat that I would have wanted to climb aboard to face the English Channel.” --Motor Boat & Yachting
