This DVD is pure sailing, from spinnaker flying in the trades, to light air reaching, to blasting along downwind in gale-force winds. There’s no distracting music or narration – just beautiful, raw sailing, combined with the ambient sounds of wind and water rushing by the hull.
For years Steve & Linda Dashew have kept raw cruising footage playing on their home TVs. “The images and sounds create a relaxing atmosphere, especially when we are away from the water”, explains Linda. So many friends have asked for copies of their own, that they’ve now edited their favorite scenes, culled from 200,000+ miles of cruising, into this one-of-a-kind DVD.
A departure from the information-packed technical DVDs the Dashews have produced in the past, Sailing Dreams is raw, ambient footage, designed to soothe, invigorate, and inspire.
Sailing Dreams is organized into a series of chapters, with a menu for navigating. If you want to keep the footage playing perpetually in the background on a TV or computer, the chapters can be set to auto-repeat.
Want to go to sleep listening to the rustle of spinnakers? Select the passage titled “Fiji”. More interested in an adrenaline rush? Choose the “Australs” or “Tonga” passage.
Do you dream of sailing around the world? The exquisite scenes in Sailing Dreams will add the ambiance of sailing to your home or office as you work towards making that dream a reality. If your passion is to scan the horizon of the open ocean and listen to the wind in the rigging, then this DVD is for you!

“The 83ft-long (25m) wave-piercer...could easily be mistaken for the spawn of the Royal Navy with its unpainted battleship grey, all-aluminum body. But that day, in those conditions, it was the only boat that I would have wanted to climb aboard to face the English Channel.”

“This would have to be the most intriguing offshore cruising powerboat I have come across. Conceptually, Steve Dashew has possibly developed a new paradigm for offshore cruising…”
