As Circa just sent us a series of photos of the main anchor (a 240 pound\/110kg Rocna) being winched home we thought they might be of interest.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The keys with any anchoring sprit design are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Rugged design, capable of taking the full breaking strength of the chain (in our case over 26,000 pounds\/11,700kg) along with substantial side loads.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Self launching design.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Secure locking of the anchor at sea to keep it quiet.<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"368\" alt=\"Anchor-raise-104\" src=\"https:\/\/setsail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/anchor-raise-104-1.jpg\" width=\"576\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The round stainless (shiny) axle heads represent the centers of the rollers. The down angle, in conjunction with the anchor shank design, creates a self launching system.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"368\" alt=\"Anchor-raise-105\" src=\"https:\/\/setsail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/anchor-raise-105.jpg\" width=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the anchor is winched home it is locked against the underside of the weldment.
