We put in Shields hoses last year and now have a smell coming from the hose at the holding tank outlet. Any ideas? Dave<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"answer\">\n<p class=\"Body\">Hi Dave: We use the Shields sanitation hose where required, always with double hose clamps. However, glued PVC is better, if you can fit it in. The fittings on holding tanks&#8211;valves, nipples, etc. seem to be prone to odors leaking out. Not sure what to do about that, except be very careful with the installation and getting the fittings properly bedded. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\">On a recent boat we build in New Zealand we had a bad batch of Shields sanitation hose and had to replace it all&#8211;due to odor problems. A costly experience. The replacement hose worked fine. The hose we have in BEOWULF is now three years or so old, and is not producing odor, in the boat or engine room.
