John Harries has convinced us to give Lindenow Fjord and Morgan’s Cloud Havn on Greenland’s east coast a look, so we’re up early today. It is roughly 80 miles, and with time to take photos, and find our way up the east coast in unsurveyed territory, ten hours is probably going to be required.

Prince Christian Sound proper has a series of tidewater glaciers.

Some are more active than others…

…and there are three areas of concentrated debris to be negotiated.

By now we are getting the hang of the process.

This is our favorite glacier for the day.

The mountains are less precipitous than what we saw further south, but impressive nonetheless.

And there are lots of waterfalls.

We continue to be amazed at the variety of texture and color found in these channels.

It is hard to imagine the glacial process which created some of these surfaces.

Here and there you find areas of flora, fighting for a toe hold.

While we have been relatively isolated in general in Greenland, there is still a chance of human contact where we have been cruising. Once we poke our bow into the Atlantic at the east end of Prince Christian Sound the probability of meeting another human being drops almost to zero. From here north it is really the wilderness.

As the Atlantic swell stacks up against the ebbing current and the bow turns north, the crew of Wind Horse have butterflies in their stomachs.

[4

post-2294","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-dashew-blog
