Did we mention we’d gotten over our visual hangover? Good thing too, because the senses are reeling again.

These first two photos are taken in Devil Fish Bay, on the west side of El Capitan Passage. Rumor has it this anchorage is haunted. Apparently some generations ago a giant "devil fish" rose from the ocean and wiped out the village – at least that is the story. We’ve been told that some visitors have had unpleasant encounters with ghosts. There was one boat anchored here already, and as the folks had spent a night at anchor without incident, we decided to chance it too.

We’re anchored close to shore, hoping good smells emanating from the galley will entice ursine visitors along the beach. Devil Fish Bay is land locked, and we’ve got a good bite with the anchor, so our proximity to shore does not bother us.

The trip to and from Devil Fish Bay along El Capitan pass involves lots of rock hopping. Exact navigation is required. The crew is busy monitoring position and watching for obstacles. Every once in a while we stop the boat, relax, and drink in the surroundings. There is a contest today between the sun and mid-level clouds. The lighting and cloud shapes are constantly in flux.
