What a night. Lots of huge squalls, big wind shifts, rain, and lightning. Mother Nature was putting on a big show. Especially interesting to us were the numerous water strikes of lightning. Those will get your attention when you see the bolt and hear the thunder almost simultaneoulsy. It was enough to get us to put our spare GPS, hand held VHF, and Globalsar phone into the microwave (to give them added protection in case of a really close hit).<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re 2248 miles from San Diego, so you can see we had a slow night of it in terms of progress made. Speed through the water was actually pretty good.
