An English Cruise

Although the Brits have had frightful weather the past few summers they have been kind enough, for the most part, to spare us the unpleasantness. Now they must know our time here is drawing to a close and want to send us off with a good impression – the weather has been simply lovely.

Good clouds and sunshine lead to nice photos, and the past two days have been excellent. So we are going to test another slide show on you, this one with captions where required.Mouse over the image to see the caption. Click in the bottom right box for full screen.

    Steve,

Blimey, a good sized fairlead on HMS Iron Duke (F234) but I’m not sure the size of the anchors meets your approval! And they even have TWO!

It does look as if the newer Type 45 destroyer has come round to your view and only uses a single anchor. Apparently even the Royal Navy can change its mind.

PS I’m not actually disagreeing with you, we’ve got the biggest single anchor that’ll fit as well.

That mini-proboscis is .50 cal not 50mm/5cm right? 😉 50mm is more in line with that main proboscis in the other shot, after all 105mm is a size of howitzer.

But seriously, I like the captions but wish I could just turn them off and on instead of having to mouse over every image to see if it has a caption.

Wishing you clean fuel and following seas. 😀

    Oops:
    Meant to say 50 Calibre!

the mini-proboscis is actually a GPMG, which is 7.62mm. regardless of the size of the projectile, whoever is on the receiving end is likely to be having a bad day…

Beautiful pictures. There’s nowhere like south-west England in the summer.
