Knowing we were headed into the world of mooring stern to we debated about adding a purpose built “passeral” to Wind Horse. It seemed like a waste to spend several thousand dollars and have to store the resulting purchase for a few marina visits. At Sue Grant’s suggestion we decided to wait and see what was really necessary. What follows is a selection of high end fashion statements, and more down to earth solutions. At the end we will show you our solution.

That is a sampling of what you will find on five to ten million dollar yachts that are designed for the show environment. All of these systems are based on the premise that you need lots of separation from the dock to protect the hull.

Our situation is different. With our bare aluminum exterior the odd dock kiss isn’t a big deal.

We started out just stepping off the swim step. Then began to use the swim ladder. Now that we have some experience, if we find ourselves doing this again, we will make a few modifications to so the swim ladder is more efficient in Med moor use.

The next batch of photos are show a lower budget approach. While not pretty, they mostly get the job done.
