You are looking at something for which we have been waiting since before Wind Horse was launched, an analog to digital converter so we can display our analog engine gauges on the computer. It is shown above sharing the computer screen with Coastal Explorer.
Of equal importance are the alarm readouts across the top (in green). These change color when an alarm is triggered. Noland Engineering sent us a beta copy of their software and hardware, and Chris Martin did the installation and initial set up. This is still very much a development project, but with Chris’s feedback, and a few suggestions from us, they should be able to fine tune the software sooner rather than later.
Each black box will handle tachometer, four instruments, and four alarms. We have 28 items that need logging and status indication, and the Noland guys are building a converter box which will address these.
Put the Noland gear together with an Ipad running Splashtop and you have alarms, instrument data, and charting in one place.
We have been using this with a wireless data link the past few days,
Chart and navigation data is below a warning strip at the top, and we now have navigation and warning data on the Ipad at the fly bridge helm. Cool; very cool!

So, just curious where you’re hanging out for the weekend given the approach of Irene. A bit of the decision process/picking a spot/rigging the boat safe would be interesting. Pictures please.
