As we have a family birthday in two days (Sarah) it was inevitable that we had to return to Playa Francesa and partake in the celebration.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-102.jpg

There are 30+ boats here, flying flags from around the world.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-103.jpg

Some are just starting to cruise.  Others have been at it for a decade or more.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-104.jpg

On shore it is fun for all.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-105.jpg

Including a large group of cruising kids who, with shipboard school in recess, are having the best time of the group.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-106.jpg

There is serious competition.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-107.jpg

And a lot of sand being shoveled.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-108.jpg

And as promised in the invitation, a variety of food.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-109.jpg

There are dinghies to check out.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-110.jpg

Photos to take.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-111.jpg

And warm water to enjoy with contemporaries.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-112.jpg

Meanwhile, the adults are seriously into petonque.

Janine, the eventual champion, checking her balls.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-114.jpg

Some of the kids are playing petonque as well.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-115.jpg

While others are into being kids.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-116.jpg

There are a variety of dinghy landing techniques to study. All come laden with bags of goodies

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-117.jpg

Beer, pizza, a brownie, warm water, a group of gregarious cruisers, what more could you ask for.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-118.jpg

The Interluders, event organizers and bon vivants.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-119.jpg

Cruising is a wonderful experience for parents and kids. But it is nice to have someone your own age with whom to play. Gathering spots like Francesa provide a chance to connect with other children, and then match itineraries so the kids have someone to hang out with as the cruise continues.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-120.jpg

Of course some kids prefer to play on their own. A sandbox as big as the world, a cool car, heaven at three.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-121.jpg

Not mentioned in the invitation was there is a full moon.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-122.jpg

All the more reason to celebrate the cruising lifestyle.

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-123.jpg

Are your plans in the clouds? Election cycle got you down? Worried about the various central banks and politicians with their plans for “quantitative easing” (a euphemism for taking from the savers in society and rewarding the profligate)?

Frnacesa-beach--Part-2-124.jpg

We’ve got a better idea. Get your boat (or get a boat) and join the party at Playa Francesa.

What a wonderful story. Have been waiting for an update on your site for several days and the wait was more than worth it.
Wonderful occasion obviously and a beautiful setting.
    Thanks for sharing those memories.
