Electrolysis Monitoring Equipment

I have an alum. yacht. Is there some kind of instrument that would tell me if electrolysis was present? In the book Offshore Cruising Encyclopedia, it made mention of silver-chloride by engelhard/systems but…I can’t seem to locate anything like that. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Dale Quigley

Hi Dale: Engelhardt still make these meters as far as I know. We still use the one we have which we purchased 20 years ago. Also, try Professional Mariner in Ventura, California. I believe they have a unit as well. Regards–Steve.

Follow-up suggestion from a SetSail visitor: You can buy a silver chloride cell from West Marine’s Catalog and then use a standard Fluke type digital multimeter to measure the millivolts…that’s what I do…its cheap and it works. Cheers–Alan, New Zealand
