Ibex poster

Every fall there is a huge gathering of marine professionals at what is called IBEX. Every major vendor of marine items is there. Along with thousands of items to check out, there is an extensive array of hands on exhibitions and seminars. They have used photos of our designs in the past and this year the IBEX management created a poster featuring the FPB 64 Avatar. You can download a copy of

the pdf file for the IBEX poster here (7mb). This would look good  on the fridge door, or maybe as a screen saver.

As Always, I’ve been following your postings with great interest.

I think it is a big deal when a designer and builder get recognized in this way. It might seem a trifle to some, that your boat is on a poster. But since there are so many people working hard every day in design offices and boatyards around the world, I think this is a testament to the care and craft you and your team put into these very special boats.

    Sincerely,
    David Sutton

Thanks for the kind words, David:
This is very much a team effort with Circa, our suppliers, and Todd Rickard, the program manager, playing major parts.

I saw your boat for the first time in Gran Canaria, last November, just before the start of the ARC 2010. I was impressed by her design.

Myself, I was one of the owners of Tokio 2, a Volvo Ocean 60 Class racer, that was designed by John Swarbrick for Chris Dickson´s racing team and was built 1993 in New Zealand. Swarbrick`s new ideas and revolutionary construction drawings of his TOKIO II caused a great sensation and a lot of discussion in the sailing world.

The ever famous Z-keel, the cathedral rigging, the deep drawn arrow-hull, that gives TOKIO II a very modern V.O.70 lookalike, the dynamic shape of her construction lines, the so strongly built bow, winches and rigging and much more make this yacht one of the most outstanding und unique examples of the art and craftsmanship in modern raceyacht history.

I sold her in 1999 but still have good memories to her.

Keep up the good work you are doing, and know that despite the fact you are building motoryachts, a lot of sailors follow your escapades with lots of interest!

    Sincerely,
    Vital Florus (Belgium)

The picture reminds me of a question I’ve had for sometime; have you seen a “super wave” in all your travels?

  5. Steve Dashew Says:

    Hi John:
We have a bunch of photos of giant waves in Surviving the Storm, but thankfully no direct experience with them! However, we have had our share of fun with steep breaking seas in the Gulf Stream and Aghulas Current.
