I’m currently stationed out in Hawaii and own a Lancer 30-5. I was thinking of sailing her to my next duty station in San Diego. I was wondering if you had any insight on that particular boat.–Brent
Hi Brent: I’m not familiar with the particular model Lancer of which you are speaking. However, if it is one of the wide beamed/square stern, large house models, I’d be wary of sailing it back.
The typical route is over the top of the Pacific High and you are almost guaranteed some weather–and that is not the design type to be caught in breaking seas with.
Great concept for day sailing in smooth water, however. Regards–Steve Dashew
