0240 – We’re at 12’10N 66’50W and the Los Roques group of reefs and Islands is seven miles under our lee. The wind is clocking back to the SE, so we tack back to starboard and head NE. The jib is stowed and we motorsail, keeping speed down to about eight knots.
1000 – The wind has continued in the ESE at about 105 true, blowing 16 to 20. The AM forecast from NMG shows ESE to SE for next 12 hrs, then tapering off and backing to NE. The 24/36 hr forecast shows continued NE. This would be a perfect scenario, so we are sailing fast in northeasterly direction – hopefully into a big northeasterly header. If this occurs, we’ll have a tight reach for Prickly Bay on Grenada – although it will be right into the prevailing swells. If the wind stays ESE we’ll head for St.Lucia. Both are lovely destinations.
