Sunday Morning Miscellaneous

Sunday morning, its quiet aboard Wind Horse, and there is time to partially catch up on photos. A few items which have caught our eye follow starting with this brand new 105 footer, just in from her Capetown builders.

She is a very light Bruce Farr design, just 60 tons.

There are, as you have seen, lots of fizzboats in this part of the world. For the most part we find them boring, especially the rounded Eurostyle boats.

High volume in a short waterline. Go high and wide. Works in calm weather, not so cool at sea.

They have some interesting canvas to gain yet more interior space.

The combination of stainless framework and canvas works aesthetically, especially with the dark color fabric.

Typical ship anchoring detail. You could hear the chain rubbing on the chafe plate (and probably the bulb) a half mile away.

We are guessing this is a traditional Dutch shear line. The superstructure certainly stands out.

In calm winds this veranda area will be very nice.

A handsome older motoryacht. Not a lot of interior volume compared to the others, but very comfortable and a probably a good sea boat.

Now lets shift focus to a very cool sailing yacht. We’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

And, still our favorite yacht…

Hi Steve: If the hyd. rudder drive were purchased from WH are steel chrome plated or SS. The chrome flakes off the steel shaft and destroys the hyd. seals not good.

    George:
The hydraulic cylinders to which you refer are supplied by Kobelt and have stainless steel pushrods (standard marine fare). Hence, no seal issues.
