Underwater Epoxy – A Material With Many Uses

Underwater-epoxy-100.jpg

One of the items that should be in the ship”s stores is a filled epoxy that will cure in a wet environment. This has all sorts of uses from underwater leaks to fitting repairs.

The Loctite 3463 shown here has the consistency of stiff clay. The roll has hardener inserted and to use you cut off the desired amount, knead it with your fingers, and then place it where required. It begins to cure in about three minutes. Once cured it can be shaped with files or grinding tools.

On occasion it can come in very handy!

    Steve and crew-
Long time reader, first time poster. I’m a Loctite sales rep and proud to see this product featured.
The actual item pictured must have made it’s way over as part of Wind Horse’s spares. In the states, this is Loctite Fixmaster Metal Magic Steel, item number 98853. Also of note is 82093, Loctite Fixmaster Underwater Repair Epoxy.
Equipment Reliability, Maintenence Productivity- Loctite hallmarks that should have resonate with Setsailers of all stripes.
Keep up the great work! Thanks for the plug.
