The FPB 78 Great Room brings with it a festival of light, a wondrous ever-changing melding of inside and out. Whatever the weather and wherever your eyes lead, there is a constantly evolving mix of visual elements.
Bright daylight…
…or morning twilight, the variations…
…on the current aesthetic theme are never the same. And never boring.
Although we spent many thousands of design hours on this project, and stared at a wide range of relatively accurate computer generated renderings, none of that prepared us sufficiently for this beautiful reality.
The galley takes part in this symphony as well.
Take a highly efficient layout, direct and indirect lighting with infinite possibilities, blend views to suit taste, and the results are bound to be wondrous.
There are so many possibilities. We will leave you with just a few more to enjoy with us…

Steve, these boats just keep getting better and better. You can be very proud. One question, are you satisfied with the vinyl flooring, would it be acceptable in a cruising sailboat. Is there enough traction?

The glass table opens up the space quite a bit visually. Was a bit curious to see how the tufted couch seating was going to turn out. Surprisingly well I would say as it balances well with the gridded ceiling panels.

Is there edge lighting on the glass table if not you could ad an led where each leg mounts to give edge lighting when lights out so you dont run into it in the dark.

Absolutely stupendous! Unbelievable, really.
If that is the vinyl planking on the sole which I think it is, you’ll want to be careful about contact with liquids. We applied the recommended contact cement and have found it lifting in any area of persistent contact with moisture, significant spills etc. There is an epoxy adhesive which is reportedly more resilient, and we may have to try that. Just saying. . . while the durability factor is very high, our expectations haven’t been met where water etc. gets into the seams.

The flooring product is made by Karndean, and is laid loose.

Yes, Jono, but the helm design was changed several years ago to what is shown here.

You hit this one right out of the park! I imagine you are both falling deeply for the ambience in that Great Room. The glass dining tabletop is an especially wonderful touch. We plan to incorporate that into the design of our 70… with some kind of 2-position horizontal slide for casual seating/dining if we can manage it.

I love the angled roof supports in the front. I don’t know if I like it from a pure style standpoint, or if I like it because it’s obvious how it works structurally, like a keystone in an arch. Either way, it says “this boat is built for strength” and it’s somehow adds a bit of styling flare.

If you need more privacy in the great room or in the matrix you could install these electrical dimmable foils, their light transmission is very good
