    and another time as in the Panama channel the AIS to follow from the arm chair is not available – switched off?

    We did have our AIS switched on.

    Then I would put the AIS (antenna & cables) under scrutiny. If you go to Vesselfinder or Marinetraffic you shall see there they lost track.

    just an idea: the moments when AIS transmit stops, are you are starting to transmit – talking via radio?
