For those interested in photography and who use Lightroom, Photoshop, or Aperture, our favorite filter set is on sale. You can buy the complete NIK collection for just US $149.00. We paid four times this price.

For an example of how well these work we offer the lead photo taken a few days ago.
The first image is from the RAW file, with almost no adjustments made.
This is what it looks like after running the NIK sharpener, polarizer, noise reducer, and HDR application. It sounds complicated, but it is actually pretty simple. The weaker the image, the more valuable the NIK collection.
For the technically inclined, the photo was taken in almost dark conditions, ISO 1600, with the Canon 1DX and a 400mm F2.8 ll lens, wide open, 1/400th of a second shutter speed.
One of the things that needs to be considered is the over processing of an image of which this could be considered an example. We would probably choose to be more subtle if this were not a demonstration.

I am looking the images on a 55 inch TV, courtesy of a raspberry pi…and I suddenly realized, because of their low power, samll size, and tremendous versatility, there must be dozens of potential applications for them on an FPB. Look them up at RaspberryPi.org … and look at some of the applications…

+1 on the Nik Collection. I just hope Google funds Nik to keep upgrading their products and that in the future there will be a Silver Efex 3.0, Color Efex 5.0, etc. It’d be a shame if Google just wanted Nik for Snapseed and didn’t continue development of their flagship products.
