Here is a very short video of FPB 97-1 on her third day of sea trials. The breeze varied from 12 to 24 knots, and the sea from 2 to 4 feet/.6-1.2 meters. The engines are still restricted as to output, but this will give you a sense of what will be possible when we are able to go to wide open throttle.

Do you think you may be able to arrange a video that had the FPB running alongside a more traditional boat. I think you would really be able to demonstrate to those of us (me) with little experience just how significant the difference in the produced wake is. Just an idea. Thank you for the update.

Looking great. I know at this level many owners want privacy but, if the lucky new owner is agreeable, I am sure everyone following the construction of Iceberg would love a look inside this astonishing new yacht.

To me it looks like the engines are under-loaded for the RPM (I’m not a expert)
Will the load go up as the boat gets loaded up with supplies or is this part of breaking in the motors?
Or will the props pitch be increased?
My feelings won’t be hurt if I am entirely wrong.

You are correct, Paul, the props are underpitched right now. However, when the FPB 97 is fully loaded they should be just about perfect. Depending on what we find during the rest of trials, and the planned cruising speed regime for the Iceberg, she may be fitted with an overpitched set of props for cruising with this set being retired to the forepeak as spares.

New props for the 97 have not yet been ordered. However, thicker interceptor strips have been fitted and the load/speed have increased as a result. We’ll post more data soon.

I’m curious if this boat (or any of your other large boats) has an actual “bell” in order to meet USCG safety requirements for boats over 20 meters or is some sort electronic equivalent used?

Hi Maddox – FPB 97-1 has a Kahlenberg air horn system that has automatic relay control to comply with USCG/COLREGS. Also included with all FPB’s is an actual ships bell, with mounting sorted by the owners.
