Dear Steve & Linda,
Thank you very, very much for not only documenting your extensive experience, but also making it freely available to the cruising community – such a gesture is rare in this day and age.
I have recently retired, and am in the process of preparing my flat in London for sale, in readiness to go cruising. Originally from New Zealand, I spent several seasons as crew competing in “round the cans” races on Saturdays in Wellington Harbour, along with a couple of offshore races – I gradually realised that cruising held more allure for me than the stress of racing.
Now the time for a boat purchase is approaching, and I’m considering the Amel ketchs (Amel 54 or 55), Discovery yachts, but realise I should look more closely at your designs – if you have any specific thoughts on the Amel yachts, I’d be most grateful to read them.
And finally, in the uncertain times we’re currently living through, I wish you and your family all the best to stay safe & healthy – Your books are ideal reading material for me during this time.
